I had my first meeting, finally !

This week was a very successful week in my books. I had my first meeting with my mentor on Wednesday March 17 and the meeting relived a lot of my confusion and stress I was feeling toward my final product. In the first meeting we discussed my vision and my idea of my final product and what I have done so far. Then he looked at what I have found and have done and gave me some advice on where to go next. He suggested for me to use Tableau which is a beginner friendly platform that will allow me to make data visualizations. Fortunately, my mentor is very familiar with this platform and said that he will teach me how to use it next meeting.This first meeting was so helpful for me because it provided a sense of direction for me and certainty. Throughout the week, I worked on understanding the data and chose aspects of data I thought would be helpful for my final project. On Sunday, my mentor said he was available to meet up so for this meeting he taught me how to use the Tableau platform and we even did some visualizations. This meeting was longer than last time and I learned a lot about how data is constructed and made into an visuzlation.

My objective for this upcoming week is to keep working on creating data visualizations on my own and have another meeting with my mentor to edit and make changes to the visuzlations I made. Having the first meeting with my mentor provided a sigh of relief for me and a sense of certainty. I am excited to start the next chapter of this journey because it was hard to persevere in this struggle of finding a mentor. This process was very tedious but I hope the end result is what I hope it is. My ISM journey so far has been amazing, insightful, and sometimes uncomfortable but I know these are the experiences that will help in my future endowments.
